	airborne extended&#38;nbsp;is a quartet for contemporary music consisting of flute, recorder/Paetzold, harp and harpsichord, with electronics, objects and performance.The ensemble was founded in 2013 and its unique instrumental combination offers the possibility of creating a wide range of new sounds and colors that in recent years has inspired several generations of composers from all over the world. Its constantly growing repertoire counts more than 80 premieres – working with both up-and-coming and established composers.As a selected ensemble for NASOM 2018/19 - New Austrian Sound of Music airborne extended was official Austrian cultural ambassador and performed at international venues and festivals such as Wien Modern, musikprotokoll Graz, Stanislawsky Electrotheatre Moscow, Kalv Festivalen, Poznan Music Spring, Tempo Reale Festival, Vancouver New Music, National Opera Athen and many more.Besides its concert-activities, airborne extended offers regularly lectures and workshops for composers and instrumentalists and already collaborated with different academic institutions such as Kunstuni Graz, Bruckner University Linz, Tiroler Landeskonservatorium Innsbruck, Anadolu Üniversitesi Eskişehir, Bilkent University Ankara, State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow, Royal Academy Aarhus, Academy of Music and Drama Gothenburg.
In 2025 airborne extended was honoured with the “Outstanding Artist Award” from Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Sport and Media (BMWKMS).

Airborne extended is supported by the Federal Ministry for Culture (BMWKMS), the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (BMEIA), The City of Vienna (MA7 Stadt Wien-Kultur) and SKE austromechana.


airborne extended ist ein international tätiges Ensemble für zeitgenössische und experimentelle Klangkunst in der außergewöhnlichen Besetzung Querflöten, Harfe, Blockflöten/Paetzold und&#38;nbsp;Cembalo. Erweitert durch Objekte, Elektronik, Medien und Performance bietet es eine breite&#38;nbsp;Palette neuer Klangspektren und inspiriert weltweit KomponistInnen wie Publikum. Das 2013 in&#38;nbsp;Wien gegründete Ensemble gilt als Vermittler starker, unmittelbarer musikalischer Ideen. Durch die&#38;nbsp;intensive Zusammenarbeit mit aufstrebenden jungen Komponist*innen aus aller Welt hat das&#38;nbsp;experimentierfreudige Ensemble wichtige Meilensteine in der zeitgenössischen Kammermusik&#38;nbsp;gesetzt.

Neben der künstlerisch-experimentierenden Tätigkeit ist dem Ensemble auch die pädagogisch-vermittelnde Funktion wichtig, und so bietet Airborne Extended regelmäßig Vorträge und Workshops für KomponistInnen und InterpretInnen an. Es arbeitete bereits mit Studierenden der Kunstuniversität Graz, Bruckner Universität Linz, Tiroler Landeskonservatorium, Anadolu Üniversitesi Eskişehir, Bilkent University Ankara, Tschaikowsky-Konservatorium &#38;nbsp;Moskau, Royal Academy Aarhus, Academy of Music and Drama Göteborg. Das Andocken des Ensembles an die verschiedenen akademischen Institutionen&#38;nbsp;verbindet einen lebendigen Austausch der Praxis mit der Lehre, und fördert das Keimen neuer kreativer Ideen.Im Jahr 2025 wurde airborne extended mit dem „Outstanding Artist Award“ des Bundesministeriums für Wohnen, Kunst, Kultur, Sport und Medien (BMWKMS) ausgezeichnet.

philosophy in Venice. Further studies with Chiara Tonelli, Patrick Gallois and
Pier Narciso Masi. Specialization in contemporary music in the Master’s program
PPCM at the University of Music in Graz under the guidance of Klangforum Wien. Nowadays
Elena regularly plays in various chamber music projects and ensembles for new
music across Europe. Performances at numerous festivals, including at the Salzburger
Festspiele, Wien Modern, Biennale Musica Venezia, Ravenna Festival, Festival
dei due Mondi Spoleto, Graz musikprotokoll, Kalv Festivalen, GAIDA Festival
Vilnius, Archipel Genève. Radio recordings for RAI-RADIO3, Ö1, RTS-Espace 2, SWR, BR
Klassik. From 2023 she holds a lectureship for contemporary flute and chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (mdw).

Focusing on early and contemporary music, she regularly performs as a soloist, basso continuo-player, and with own ensembles at renowned concert festivals, among them Wien Modern, Musikprotokoll Graz, Salzburger Festspiele, Peking May Festival, Royal Music Festival Stockholm, November Music Days Netherlands, Stanislavsky Theatre Moskow, National Opera Athens, Vancouver New Music, Hwakang Arts Taipei…
As a soloist she appeared with Wiener Kammerorchester, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Bach Consort Wien, she regularly performs with Capella Leopoldina, Bach Consort Wien, Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna,, Tonkünstlerorchester Wien, MusikFabrikSüd, Reconsil, Phace.
She closely coperates with contemporary composers all over the world, participated in many CD-, radio and filmproductions, among them the international film "LICHT" (Barbara Albert,2017) for which she was asked to record the complete solo- and chamber music work of Maria Theresia Paradis. 
Sonja Leipold is lecturer at various masterclasses, as an accompanist she worked with Emma Kirkby &#38;amp; Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Since 2015 she teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, since 2019 she is president of IGNM/ISCM Austria.

	Caroline Mayrhofer, Recorders/Paetzold
born in Innsbruck, studied recorder at Bruckner-Konservatorium Linz and at Musikuniversität Wien. She graduated as a Master
of Arts with distinction and was awarded scholarships at
Amherst-Early-Music-Festival/USA and the Stichting Musici van Morgen/NL. At a
post-graduate at the Conservatorium Amsterdam she got a diploma cum laude. She
has been teaching at the conservatorio di Bolzano. Caroline was repeatedly
pricewinner at the competition „Jugend musiziert“, 2012 she was price-winner at
the international competition for contemporary recorder music in Darmstadt. As
a soloist and in Ensembles she performs throughout Europe, America, Asia. She is
part of many CD- and Radioproductions (RecRec, EMI digital, RAI, ORF, radio
espace 2, Kairos).

	Tina Žerdin, Harp
The Slovenian harpist Tina Žerdin completed her concert harp studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with distinction. She is currently the principal harpist in the Wiener Akademie, Wiener Kammerorchester, Austrian-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic, and Synchron Stage Orchestra. Additionally, she is a frequent guest musician at the Vienna State Opera, Volksoper, and other Viennese orchestras. As a solo harpist, she has performed with the orchestra of La Scala in Milan, the orchestra of the Tiroler Festspiele, and the National Opera in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Tina Žerdin is a very active soloist and chamber musician and performs in many countries across Europe and Asia. As a soloist with orchestras, she has appeared with the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Oradea State Philharmonic (Romania), the Pitești State Philharmonic (Romania), as well as the Philharmonic and the orchestra of the National Opera in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).

As a performer of contemporary music, she collaborates with the ensemble airborne extended (member since 2017), as well as with ensembles such as Klangforum, Reconsil, Phace, and Kontrapunkte. She is a prominent interpreter of Slovenian contemporary music and has participated in many radio and CD recordings. Among others, she has released two CDs of Slovenian harp music in collaboration with Slovenian Radio and the Slovenian Composers’ Association.

Since 2024, Tina Žerdin has been the coordinator of the Slovenian Cultural Center Korotan in Vienna.

&#38;nbsp;Die slowenische Harfenistin Tina Žerdin absolvierte ihr Konzertfach-Harfenstudium an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien mit ausgezeichnetem Erfolg. Zurzeit ist sie erste Harfenistin in den Orchestern Wiener Akademie, Wiener Kammerorchester, Österreich-Ungarische Haydn-Philharmonie und Synchron Stage Orchestra. Außerdem ist sie häufige Gastmusikerin an der Wiener Staatsoper, Volksoper und in anderen Wiener Orchestern. Als Soloharfenistin gastierte sie im Orchester der Mailänder Scala, im Orchester der Tiroler Festspiele und in der Nationaloper in Ulaanbaatar in der Mongolei.

Als Solistin und Kammermusikerin ist Tina Žerdin in vielen Staaten Europas und Asiens tätig. Als Solistin mit Orchester ist sie u. a. mit dem Sinfonieorchester des Slowenischen Rundfunks, dem Orchester der Slowenischen Philharmonie, dem Kammerorchester der Slowenischen Philharmonie, der Mazedonischen Philharmonie, dem Wiener Kammerorchester, der Staatsphilharmonie Oradea (Rumänien), der Staatsphilharmonie Pitești (Rumänien) sowie der Philharmonie und dem Orchester der Nationaloper in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolei) aufgetreten.

Als Interpretin neuer Musik arbeitet sie neben dem Quartett airborne extended (Mitglied seit 2017) auch mit Ensembles wie Klangforum, Reconsil, Phace und Kontrapunkte zusammen. Sie ist eine bedeutende Interpretin der slowenischen zeitgenössischen Musik und wirkte in vielen Rundfunk- und CD-Aufnahmen mit. U. a. hat sie auch zwei CDs mit slowenischer Musik für die Harfe in Kooperation mit dem Slowenischen Rundfunk und dem Verein der slowenischen Komponist:innen veröffentlicht.

Seit 2024 leitet Tina Žerdin das Slowenische Kulturzentrum Korotan in Wien.

	Alisa Kobzar, sound designComposer, multimedia artist, graduated from Kyiv National Music Academy (Ukraine) in 2014 (department of composition,instrumentation and musical informational technologies). Since 2018 lives in Graz and studies Computer music in Graz University of Arts (with prof. G.Eckel) and works as SMA in IEM (KUG) in the project “Inter_agency”. She took part in different&#38;nbsp; international composers' masterclasses on instrumental and electronic music, festivals, workshops. In 2016 she was the resident of the Studio of Electronic Music in the Musical Academy in Krakow (Poland). Her music is performed in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Russia, Ireland, Portugal, Italy. Her compositions include instrumental, chamber, symphonic, electronic music, multidisciplinary and interactive projects. The main vector of her creative work is interdisciplinarity towards connecting the different art-forms into undisassemblable multimedia, where none of the arts is illustrative. 	PRISM# is a multidisciplinary concert format and series in the field of tension of music-electronics-objects-performance-new media and presents most recent pieces of composers from all over the worldIn their Prism# programs Ensemble airborne extended fulfills its name in extensions on techniques like mouvement controllers (leap motion and myo), transducers, interactive video- and live electronics. The instruments themselves are extended through materials like fans, threads and pipes and thus remote-controlled as well as prepared through sandpaper, bicycle tubes, garbage bags and styrofoam.

Most recent pure acoustic chamber music alternates with sound composition on everyday life, kitchen and recycling objects which through their artistic context can be seen in a new light.

Exactly this aspect arouses interest in the contemporary soundworld in a wide audience.

In their concert series Prism# airborne extended also focuses in a great diversity regarding gender, cultural areas and style.

	PRISM#&#38;nbsp;- ein multidisziplinäres Konzertformat im Spannungsfeld Musik-Elektronik-Objekte-Performance-neue Medien

2021 startet das Ensemble airborne extended mit „PRISM“ eine multidisziplinäre Konzertreihe: neueste Kompositionen von Komponist*innen aus aller Welt werden in einem Spannungsbogen verbunden.

airborne extended wird dabei dem „extended“ in seinem Namen auf vielfache Weise gerecht:

 Im Einsatz sind Techniken wie mouvement controller (leap motion und myo), Transducer, interaktive Video- und Live-Elektronik.Die Instrumente selbst werden durch Materialien wie Fäden, Schläuche und Ventilatoren erweitert und ferngesteuert, sowie präpariert mit Schleifpapier, Sandpapier, Fahrradreifen, Müllsäcken, Glas, Styropor...

Neueste pure akustische Kammermusik wechselt sich ab mit Klanggestaltung auf Alltags-, Küchen- und Recyclinggegenständen, die durch Einbettung in künstlerischen Kontext in neuem Licht erscheinen: all dies baut eine Brücke zu Alltagsfragen, aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Themen und dem realen Leben. Genau dieser Aspekt spricht einen sehr großen Publikumskreis an und weckt bei Alt und Jung Interesse an aktueller Musik &#38;amp; Klangkunst.
2021 und &#38;nbsp;2022 wird dieses noch nie in Österreich gehörte Repertoire zusammen mit Werken unserer in Österreich lebenden KomponistenkollegInnen dem Wiener Publikum präsentieren: mit Musik von Hannes Kerschbaumer, Bernhard Lang, Wolfgang Mitterer, Elisabeth Harnik, Elisabeth Schimana, Manuela Kerer, Katharina Klement, Alexander Kaiser…. &#38;nbsp;Jedes Konzert beinhaltet 1-2 Uraufführungen (u.a. von Emre Sihan Kaleli, Mikołaj Laskowski, Manuel Zwerger, Grainne Mulvey, Nava Hemyari), ein Fokus bei der Programmierung liegt auch auf großer Diversität hinsichtlich Gender, Kulturkreis und Stilrichtung.

selection of airborne extendeds' widespread repertoire and puts the focus on
various transformations and extentions of their soundscape with electronics and
objects.

Reale Festival 2019 in Florence/IT and regularly collaborates with the
electronic musician and composer Alisa Kobzar.

“O qual
incendio, o quanto ardore“ this the first line of the motet book ofthe
Italian composer Rosa Giacinta Badalla, and it perfectly illlustrates the
emotions and visual phenomena that go along with the experience of visions and
miracles.Miracles
and visions have always been an important source of inspiration for composers,
and it is fascinating to hear how differently they set their very personal
approach into music. Our programme presents both ancient and contemporary music
and thusclosely connects the past to the present: Baroque composers such
as Rosa Giacinta Badalla, Camilla de Rossi (notably two of the rare female
composers of ancient times) -and Georg Philipp Telemann have created touching
musical works that impressively describe sacred miracles. Those
musical rarities are combined with new, fascinating works by Ming Wang, Panos
Iliopoulos and Alexandros Spyrous: their pieces refer to miracles both of the
past and the present, and are visions that composers nowadays create for the
future.
The program was premiered at Alternative Stage/Greek
National Opera – Athen.

“O qual incendio, o quanto ardore“ - dies ist die erste Zeile des Motettenbuchs der italienischen Komponistin Rosa Giacinta Badalla und illustriert perfekt die Emotionen und visuellen Phänomene, die mit dem Erleben von Visionen und Wundern einhergehen. Wunder und Visionen waren schon immer eine wichtige Inspirationsquelle für KomponistInnen, und es ist faszinierend zu hören, wie unterschiedlich diese&#38;nbsp;ihre ganz persönliche Herangehensweise an die Musik setzen. Unser Programm präsentiert sowohl barocke&#38;nbsp;als auch zeitgenössische Musik und verbindet so die Vergangenheit eng mit der Gegenwart: BarockkomponistInnen&#38;nbsp;wie Rosa Giacinta Badalla, Camilla de Rossi und Georg Philipp Telemann haben berührende Musikwerke geschaffen, die&#38;nbsp;eindrucksvoll heilige Wunder beschreiben.Diese musikalischen Raritäten werden mit neuen, faszinierenden Werken von Ming Wang, Panos Iliopoulos und Alexandros Spyrous kombiniert: Ihre Stücke beziehen sich auf Wunder der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart und sind Visionen, die KomponistInnen heutzutage für die Zukunft schaffen. the rules, and possibilities. Gone, the many questions about sex, gone the
admonitions and temptations. Gone the pitfalls of fertility. For one hundred
years the girl spins and spirals into a world between life and death. We travel with her in this immersive, real stage space to virtual worlds of
sounds and images, following her slightest head movements as she, wearing VR
goggles and headphones, navigates through imaginary landscapes and explores the
farthest corners of an abundant world full of birds and insects but no mammals
or humans. We are guided in and out of this world by the sounds of the harp, virginal, and
flutes, played by airborne extended, and the words of the narrator.

Jahre Schlaf – ein Geschenk? 


Auftrag netzzeit und Wien Modern Produktion netzzeit in
Koproduktion mit Dschungel Wien und Wien Modern Das Mädchen sticht sich an der Spindel und ist
weg. Weg die vielen Stimmen, die Regeln und die Möglichkeiten. Weg die vielen
Fragen wegen Sex, weg die Ermahnungen und Verlockungen. Weg die Gefahren der
Fruchtbarkeit. Für Hundert Jahre dreht und schraubt sich das Mädchen hinein in
eine Welt zwischen Leben und Tod. Im immersiven realen Bühnenraum reisen wir mit
ihr in virtuelle Klang- und Bilderwelten, folgen ihren kleinsten Kopfbewegungen
mit denen sie, bestückt mit VR Brille und Kopfhörern, durch unwirkliche
Landschaften navigiert und erkunden die letzten Winkel einer wuchernden Welt
mit Vögeln und Insekten, aber ohne Säugetiere und Menschen. In diese Welt hinein, aber auch wieder aus ihr
heraus geleiten uns Klänge von Harfe, Virginal und Flöten, gespielt von
airborne extended, und die Worte des Erzählers.

In addition to the artistic and
research activities, the educational side is also a dedicated goal for the
ensemble.
From 2017/2018 starting with the
support of ISCM, airborne extended creates a complex exchange and dialogue
between students and teachers of the composition and instrumental classes in
different musical institution – in Austria and abroad. 
The principal focus is to create a podium
between (up-and-coming) composers and interpreters.
The workshops initially provide
detailed insights into the development of the repertoire and playing techniques
of the 20th and 21st centuries by lectures and live music examples, followed by
extensive space for experimentation, questions, trying things out and making
contact. 
As a result, there is a long-term
practical collaboration between the students / teachers and the ensemble, which
also results in the performance of newly creations.
Important aims of this project are:

1) To build bridges between composers
and musicians of tomorrow and to encourage them to collaborate artistically


2) to make composers aware of
instruments such as harpsichord, harp and recorder, which are rather
underrepresented in contemporary music


3) to offer young committed composers
a podium as a first professional experience of exchange with interpreters


Airborne extended has given master
classes and lectures in cooperation with the following institutions: Kunstuni
Graz, Bruckner Uni Linz, Tiroler Landeskonservatorium Innsbruck, Tschaikowsky
State Conservatory Moscow, Bar Ilan University Tel Aviv, School of Arts -
University of Haifa, Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, Music Academy Ljubljana,
Bilkent University Ankara, Anadolu Üniversitesi - Eskişehir, Academy of Music
-Göteborg and many more.


Neben der künstlerisch – forschenden Tätigkeit ist dem Ensemble auch die
pädagogisch-vermittelnde Funktion wichtig, und so wurde bereits ab 2017/2018
ein Projekt in Kooperation mit der IGNM ins Leben gerufen, das diese beiden
Pole verbindet: mittels Workshops,
Konzerten, Experimenten und Kompositionsaufträgen kreiiert „airborne extended“
einen vielschichtigen Austausch und Dialog zwischen StudentInnen und Lehrenden
der Kompositions &#38;amp; Instrumentalklassen, zwischen (Nachwuchs-)
KomponistInnen und -InterpretInnen, die sich andernfalls in freier „Wildbahn“
in dieser Form wohl nicht treffen würden.
Die Workshops
geben zunächst mittels Vorträgen und live-Musikbeispielen instrumentenbezogene
detaillierte Einblicke in Repertoireentwicklung und Spieltechniken des 20. und
21. Jahrhunderts, gefolgt von ausführlichem Raum zum Experimentieren, Fragen,
Probieren, Kontaktaufnehmen. In weiterer Folge besteht eine längerfristige
praktische Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Studierenden/Lehrenden und dem Ensemble,
die auch in der Aufführung neu entstandener Werke bei renommierten
Konzertreihen mündet.
Ziele dieses
Projektes sind es:


1) brücken zu
schlagen zwischen KomponistInnen und MusikerInnen von morgen und sie zu
künstlerischer Zusammenarbeit zu ermuntern


2) die in der
zeitgenössischen Musik eher unterrepräsentierten Instrumente Cembalo, Harfe und
Blockflöte und deren vielfältige Möglichkeiten ins Bewusstsein der
Komponierenden zu rücken


3) jungen
engagierten KomponistInnen ein Podium zu bieten
